Blagojevich's Pre-Prison Speech: Honest Farewell or Promotion Stump?

Disgraced former Il governor Rod Blagojevich is now on his way to a Co jail to review for his 14-year jail phrase. Yet, of course, before he eventually left he couldn't neglect out on a last opportunity to gloat in the media's focus with a unusual goodbye conversation completely timed to air stay on night time newscasts Thursday.

When it was first declared Blagojevich would encourage correspondents outside his house for what was named as a opportunity to say goodbye, I naively expected he would use to be able to, for once, own up to his blunders and say sorry to the individuals of Il. Yet, as he has demonstrated some hour and hour again, the second the camcorders switched on, Blagojevich couldn't fight one last opportunity to toot his own horn.

"I believe I always, always believed about what was right for the individuals," Blagojevich said. He then detailed off his expected accomplishments while offering as governor, such as employing medical wellness care protection for middle-income kids, no cost mammograms and pap smudges, and no cost trips for senior citizens.

Now, when a politician is managing for political election it is a good idea to record off your own success while in workplace. Yet dealing with no cost mammograms in one phrase and how much he will neglect his household in another just seemed unusual. Take the first 50 percent of his conversation on its own, and it appears to be exactly like an offer tree stump conversation, finish with the required "I took on unique interests" and "I never brought up the earnings tax" audio hits.

Blagojevich is existing in his own dream community, where he has assured himself, somehow, that trying to offer Chief executive Our country's chair for economic council chair for campaign cash was seemingly "right for the individuals." Even after a court charged him on 18 number, he is still assured everything he did "was on the right part of the law."

The only time I experienced a truthful apology by the man was when he tried to make sure a lax phrase by informing Assess Wayne Zagel in Dec that "I have nobody responsible but myself for my stupidity" and said he was "extremely sorry" for his offenses. Yet Blagojevich was again to requiring his own purity Thursday, creating me recognize his apology in Dec was nothing more than a bogus and insincere try to get the judge to take it simple on him.

His own ego is so self-inflated that even as he's planning to offer here we are at his offenses, he is still vowing to charm, informing the audience, "While my trust in elements has sometimes been inhibited, I still believe this is The united states, this is a nation that is controlled by the guideline of law, that the simple fact eventually will overcome."

Yet, the simple fact in his thoughts and the real simple fact are two considerably different elements. No one can reject, except for him, that he indeed tried to return the president's former chair for economic council chair for cash. FBI wiretaps found him on record reporting the shift as "f**king fantastic."

While I was frustrated Blagojevich never say sorry and take responsibility for his wrongdoings, I mostly just sensed bad for him after the conversation. Serving 14 decades behind cafes will likely be much more complicated when he is steadfastly assured of his purity. He is so delusional that he truly considers he did nothing incorrect, so instead of investing his time fixed up targeted on enhancing himself, he will likely be planning his break free, which will only generate him crazier than he already is.
